Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola admits he was prepared to leave at the end of the season.
Guardiola has since penned a new two-year contract over the past week.
“I had discussed it with my wife and the idea was to finish my time at City this season. But in the end they entangled me and I will continue for two more years,” he said in Damm as he collected the Catalan Coach of the Year award.
“Nothing can be compared to Barcelona. If I thought I was essential, I would come back, but I’m not. I left and the team continues to win. If we have to meet again, we’ll meet, but without forcing anything.
“I think they are doing very well despite the disappointment of the Champions League, but if you analyse it game by game… In Munich they deserved to win and then the penalty in the game against Inter. It hurts me that they are not there but for I’m lucky because that way I won’t face them.”
