Manchester United reignited the Premier League title race on Sunday with a dramatic 3–2 victory over leaders Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium, inflicting the Gunners’ first home league defeat of the season.
Arsenal had the chance to restore a seven-point lead at the summit after wins by Manchester City and Aston Villa earlier in the weekend, but were undone by a resilient United side that produced a clinical second-half display to cut their advantage.
The hosts began brightly and took the lead in the 29th minute when Lisandro Martínez turned the ball into his own net under pressure. United responded eight minutes later after Martin Zubimendi’s misplaced pass was seized upon by Bryan Mbeumo, who finished calmly to level the score.

United emerged with renewed purpose after the break and went ahead five minutes into the second half. Patrick Dorgu’s fierce strike crashed off the underside of the crossbar before crossing the line, leaving the home crowd stunned.
Arsenal pressed for a response and were rewarded in the 84th minute when substitute Mikel Merino reacted quickest to prod home from close range. However, parity was short-lived as United struck again three minutes later, Matheus Cunha curling a superb effort from outside the box to seal the win.
The defeat leaves Arsenal winless in their last three league matches, though they remain top with 50 points from 23 games, with City and Villa closing in on 46 points. United’s victory lifts them to fourth on 38 points, further tightening an increasingly competitive title race.
