Arsenal boss, Mikel Arteta, has given reason for his side’s Premier League 1-0 defeat to Southampton on Saturday.
Southampton defeated Arsenal at St. Mary’s Stadium, thanks to Jan Bednarek’s first-half goal.
The result against Southampton means Arsenal are now in the sixth position on the Premier League table with 54 points from 31 games.
Speaking during his post-match press conference, Arteta said the Gunners lost against Southampton because his players failed to score against the host, adding that the opponent’s goalkeeper was also exceptional.
“[It is] Difficult to explain [Why we lost against Southampton] because this is football, not basketball.
“It’s decided in the boxes and for the amount of time we spent around their box we didn’t put them on the goal.”
“They had an exceptional goalkeeper,” he added.
Arsenal’s next game is against Chelsea on Wednesday.
