EPL: Nedum Onuoha names best team in England, slams critics

Former Manchester City man, Nedum Onuoha, has named Arsenal as the best team in England and hit back at critics of Mikel Arteta’s side.

The North London club currently sit top of the Premier League table after their opening seven games, winning six and losing once.

The Gunners are aiming to finish top four this season which would be the first time since 2015-16.

There is this feeling among fans and pundits that Arsenal have benefited from an easy run of fixtures and have pointed out their defeat to Manchester United.

Arsenal face unbeaten Tottenham in their next match for the first north London derby of the season on Saturday, with Spurs able to leapfrog them with a win.

“People can be critical of Arsenal in terms of the teams they have beaten,” Onuoha told ESPN FC.

“There’s a perception in football that you only do well if you beat the teams around you.

“But if you beat the teams in the bottom 10 twice over, that’s 60 points. Let’s just make it clear, if you want to be successful, you need those points.

“Manchester City do it, Liverpool do it, that’s why they end up near the top.

“[The north London derby] will be a great occasion… Arsenal are currently the best team in England.”
