EPL: Steven Gerrard questions Mane over talk of leaving Liverpool

Liverpool legend, Steven Gerrard, has questioned winger Sadio Mane over leaving the club this summer.

Gerrard believes Mane would be making a huge mistake by leaving Liverpool this summer.

Mane has been strongly linked with a move away from Liverpool in the coming months, as he looks to start a new chapter in his impressive career so far.

In light of this, Gerrard, who is currently the coach of Aston Villa, questioned why Mane would ‘want to leave this Liverpool team’ after another successful season with the Reds.

The former England midfielder thinks the Senegalese international should follow his teammate, Mohamed Salah, who was also uncertain over his future at Anfield but is now expected to stay at the club until the end of next season at least.

Speaking to BT Sport, Gerrard said: “[Mohamed] Salah has already said that he is going to be here next year, I know there is a bit of noise around Mane.

“But why would you want to leave this Liverpool team because you know that they are going to be competitive in the business end of the season?”

Meanwhile, prior to Liverpool’s Champions League final with Real Madrid on Saturday night, Mane teased an announcement over his future by saying: “Come back to me on Saturday and I will give you the best answer you want to hear, for sure. It’s special. I will give you all you want to hear then.”
