Manchester United boss, Erik ten Hag has singled out four of his players for praise following a 2-1 win over Liverpool on Monday.
Jadon Sancho and Marcus Rashford scored for the Red Devils, before Mohamed Salah pulled one back late in the match.
Ten Hag, after the game at Old Trafford, hailed the influence of both goalscorers, Bruno Fernandes who wore the captain’s armband and Raphael Varane who replaced Harry Maguire in defence.
“It makes me happy that Rashford and Sancho got the goals. Fernandes took the responsibility and the captaincy encouraged him. He showed leadership with Varane. They made a huge difference.
“It is not just them; we need more leaders. When you want to win you need leaders and the spirit we showed today,” he said.
The Red Devils will be hoping to climb further up the table, when they take on Southampton on Saturday.
