Ese Brume drops eight places to 150th in World Rankings

Commonwealth Games long jump champion and record holder, Ese Brume has dropped eight places in the latest overall women’s weekly world rankings released this week by World Athletics.

The 27 year old was ranked 142nd last week after moving up 81 places from her 223rd ranking the previous week after jumping 6.84m to place fourth at the 19th World Athletics Championships in Budapest, Hungary.

The African record holder has now dropped to 150th in the overall women’s ranking. She however retains her status as the fifth best ranked athlete in the women’s long jump event behind reigning World Indoor and Oudoor champion, Ivana Vuleta of Serbia, USA duo of Tara Davis-Woodhall (second) and Quanesha Burks (fourth) as well as Italian, Larissa Iapichino (third).

Meanwhile, former World 100m hurdles champion, Tobi Amusan has dropped from the 24th best in the women’s overall ranking to 25th but retains her number 2 status in the 100m hurdles behind Olympic champion, Jasmine Camacho-Quinn.

Brume, ranked in the top 100 and Amusan, ranked among the top 10 in the world just before the World hampionships could bounce back in geomtrical fashion if they win their respective event at the Diamond League final in Oregon, USA next week.

Meanwhile, Shot Putter, Chukwuebuka Enekwechi (194) remains the top ranked Nigerian in the overall men’s ranking with sprinters, Udodi Onwuzurike (316) and Ushoritse Itshekiri (514) second and third respectively.
