African long jump queen and rcord holder, Ese Brume will return to Diamond League action at the Herculis in Monaco on July 21, 2023.
The Nigerian will be seeking to add to the nine points she has garnered over two Diamond League meetings as she bids to jump in her first Diamond League
final after missing last year by the narrowest of margins.
Brume, who holds a personal season’s best of 6.81m and ranks 16th in the world and second in Africa behind compatriot, Ruth Usoro (6.82m), has not shown the
consistency required to become a medal contender at next month’s World Athletics Championships in Budapest, Hungary.
The 27 year old however has time to get back into the pre-championships form that got her a World Championships bronze in 2019 and silver in 2022.
The Commonwealth Games champion and record holder will be competing against familiar foes at the long jump pit at the Stade Louis 2 in Monaco.
The World indoor and outdoor silver medalist will be up against Malaika Mihambo, World and Olympic champion; Ivana Vuleta, World indoor champion and Jazmin Sawyers, European Indoor champion.
The other will feature the ambitious new generation led by Ackelia Smith, who has been dominating the jumping pit this season (7.08m).
