Etebo Eyes Promotion To English Premier League

Stoke City midfielder, Oghenekaro Etebo has declared that his biggest target for this season is to help the club return to the top-flight English Premier League, as he reckons that The Potters’ pedigree is too rich for them to continue struggling in the lower cadre Championship.

Speaking on the return to action in the EPL, Etebo admitted he will love to play in the high-profile division next season, and stressed that Stoke have the quality to make it happen eventually at the end of this term.

Incidentally, it was only last week that Etebo returned to the club, for the start of pre-season training, after playing for the Super Eagles at the recent Africa Cup of Nations in Egypt.

However, he was warmly received and welcomed by his pals and the coach, Nathan Jones, who said they were all proud of his efforts during Egypt 2019, where Etebo played in all of Nigeria’s seven games en route to emerging third the competition and was among the top performers.

Jones recalled that a similar situation occurred after the World Cup in Russia, when Etebo returned with only a week of rest and had to play a full season, so they had to give him an extended summer break.

The former Warri Wolves of Delta State, CD Fereinse of Portugal and Las Palmas of Spain battler is now eager to show his appreciation to Jones, his teammates and fans, stating emphatically that his ambition is to help Stoke finally get back to the Premier League at the end of this season.

Etebo declared: “Everyone knows that Stoke is not a small club. They deserve to be in the Premier League. We are in the Championship for now. That is why we want to give our best to take the team up this season.

“Our target is promotion this season, and we will give our best to ensure we achieve our aim. I will also give my best to the team to help them go up to the Premier League at the end of this new season.”
