Ex-Super Eagles Striker Benedict Akwuegbu Scores Twice in Charity Match for Legends in England: Voted Man of the Match

Former Super Eagles striker, Benedict Akwuegbu, rolled back the years with an individual performance after producing two superb goals in a Charity Match played at the John Jenkins Stadium, Moneyfield, Portsmouth in England.

Playing for the FC Global Kickers side, the Ex U-17, U-20 and U-23 Nigeria International netted his first goal in the 30th minute with a well composed finish into the bottom corner of the net.

The “Austrian Bomber” as he was fondly called during his active playing days in Austria later added to his tally in the 55th minute with yet another sensational finish.

Although his side lost the game 6-3 to the Portsmouth Legends side, Benedict Akwuegbu was able to wow the amazing crowd at the John Jenkins Stadium with his outstanding individual display which earned him the Man Of The Match award at the end.

FC Global Kickers side featured football legends from Germany and Austria where Akwuegbu made the most of his memorable club career.

As stated previously, the Charity match was not just to assemble former legends of the game on the pitch but to also ensure that the proceeds from the ticket sales are splitted equally between the Pompey in the community and Global family, a charity dedicated to supporting families worldwide.
