Ezeji: Let’s Give League Players’ Team Benefit Of Doubt

Former veteran of the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL), Victor Ezeji has spoken out in support of players in the home-based Eagles, who he believes will atone for their errors in Sunday’s 4-1 loss away to Togo by getting a better result in the reverse fixture on October 19.

Ezeji, who had only a single short term spell playing overseas and starred for several years with Sharks of Port Harcourt, sued for patience from soccer fans, with a view that the home-based Eagles need benefit of doubt to redeem themselves and still qualify for next year’s Championship of African Nations (CHAN 2020) in Cameroon.

The former Super Eagles’ fringe player went on to admit that there is a need for redemption for the home-based squad, but sued for more support and backing from Nigerians to help the squad overcome the embarrassment of their first leg implosion, in order to get their CHAN 2020 hope back on course.

Ezeji stated: “It was a bad result, no doubt, but they still have the chance to redeem themselves. We just have to be patient with them and give them the benefit of doubt. I believe they will put themselves together for the second leg and they can still make us proud.”
