Ezenwa: We Will Pick Ticket To Cameroon 2020

Heartland of Owerri goalkeeper, Ikechukwu Ezenwa has promised that he and his colleagues in Nigeria’s home-based national team will give everything they have to ensure they turn the table against Togo in the second leg of their Championship of African Nations qualifier next month.

Speaking in the wake of their shock 4-1 loss away in Lome, Togo on Sunday, Ezenwa admitted he and the other players were ashamed by their fall, but declared emphatically that they are all determined to turn the tide during the October 19 reverse fixture, ahead of which he says they will ensure they qualify for CHAN 2020 in Cameroon.

The main national team’s second choice shot-stopper, who is captain of the home-based Eagles’ squad being handled by Imama Amapakabo, added that Sunday’s match is now in the past and all attention should be on the second leg Nigeria, from which he vowed that he and his pals will redeem themselves in order to pick the ticket at stake.

He went on to apologise to all Nigerians and the country’s ambassador to Togo, then pleaded for patience from everyone and trust in the team, as they go about their task of making up for the shock by getting victory in the second leg and ultimately qualify for next year’s main event.

Ezenwa pleaded: “We are pained that we could not reciprocate with a good result from this match. As a team we apologise for what has happened. What we are saying to you and Nigerians is that we are sorry and that we would make it up by securing the ticket. Kindly exercise some patience with us. What we are saying in one sentence is that we will qualify; it is not over yet.”
