Falconets’ Coach Targets Products For Falcons

Nigeria’s female youth national team, Falconets’ coach, Christopher Danjuma has declared that the biggest target on his mind at the ongoing Africa Games in Rabat, Morocco is for him to produce good players that can graduate into the senior squad, Super Falcons.

While acknowledging that it would be good to see his side go all the way to the gold medal, which Nigeria failed to win in the last two editions of the Games, Danjuma insisted that the bigger picture is in ensuring that the current set of under-20 players step up to the senior ranks.

He added during a radio sports programme monitored in Lagos that the developmental angle to youth football must not be overlook on the desire to win trophies and medals, which he says he is hilding in Rabat.

The Nasarawa Amazons of Lafia handler, though, went on to admit his delight in seeing his side win their first match at Maroc 2019, as their 3-0 spanking of South Africa put them in very buoyant mood heading into Wednesday’s second group game against Cameroon.

Danjuma retorted: “Let’s look at the potentials and work hard to ensure the Falcons have a future; so that the Falconets can grow.

“We should not think only of the present, but let’s focus on what the Falconets can do, in terms of their players moving on to the Falcons.

“That’s what I am trying to do with this team. We are looking beyond today. Yes, we want to win matches, we want to win medals, but the most important thing is the future.”
