Reigning Nigeria 100m king Favour Ashe will lead Auburn University’s strong team to the Texas Tech Open & Multis meet which begins on Thursday at the Texas Tech Sports Performance Center in Lubbock, Texas.
The Nigerian ran 6.57 in the 60m event two weeks ago at the Clemson Invite to rank number one in the Southeastern conference (SEC) and No. 4 in the NCAA.
The 20 year will be expected to significantly improve on that as he did last season when he opened his season with 6.58 but improved to 6.52 at the following meet at the Tyson Invitational in Fayetteville, Arkansas.
Auburn University head coach, Leroy Burell believes Ashe and the rest of Tigers will put up dominant performances at the Texas meet.
“This is the week that we are targeting to really solidly ourselves nationally with the men’s and women’s sprints,” Tigers head coach Leroy Burrell said. “We are off to a really great start, and I am happy with what our athletes have done over the last couple weeks.”
Ashe holds a personal best of 6.52 in the event and went as far as winning a bronze medal over the distance at the NCAA Div. I Indoor Championships held at the CrossPlex Athletic Facility in Birmingham, Alabama.
