FCT SWAN Honors Barrister Babatunde Akintade for Grassroots Football Development

The Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (FCT Chapter) has honored Barrister Babatunde Akintade, popularly known as Bocknor, with an award for his outstanding contributions to grassroots football development in Gwagwalada and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

The award was part of the activities marking the 2024 FCT SWAN Week and was formally presented to Akintade during the finals of the Gwagwalada Football League on Friday, December 20, 2024, at Government Day Secondary School, Gwagwalada, Abuja.

Speaking during the presentation, the Secretary of the 2024 FCT SWAN Week, Tolulope Oguntimehin, praised Akintade’s commitment to nurturing young talents and promoting football in the region. He highlighted the impact of Like Minds Football Club, chaired by Akintade, in creating opportunities for youths to showcase their skills and gain recognition within and beyond the FCT.

In his response, Barrister Akintade expressed gratitude to FCT SWAN for the recognition and reaffirmed his dedication to supporting football development in the FCT and across Nigeria.

The event also featured the final match of the 2024 Gwagwalada League, where Ejiwumi FC triumphed over Sheikhadam Football Club, both from Gwagwalada, with a 3-1 victory. Ejiwumi FC secured a two-goal lead by halftime and maintained their dominance to claim the title.
