FIFA World Cup Final: Tinubu hails Messi as ‘Emilokan of Doha’

Date:

The presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in the 2023 general elections, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu has hailed Lionel Messi as the ‘Emilokan of Doha’ after the 35 year old led Argentina to her first FIFA World Cup win since 1986.

It was Messi’s first World Cup win on fifth attempt and Tinubu believes it was the Argentina captain’s turn to win it. ‘Emilokan’ is a Yoruba word which means ‘it’s my turn’.

‘Emilokan of Doha,’ Tinubu tweeted on his verified Twitter handle with an edited photo of Messi wearing the Tinubu cap.

Like Tinubu, many football followers around the globe, including Nigerians believed it was the Argentine’s turn to win the World Cup to cement his best player of all time, GOAT status.

Tinubu, the former Lagos state governor will be hoping it is also his turn to rule Nigeria when the Presidential elections hold on February 25, 2023.

Messi was also crowned the best player of the tournament held in Qatar and is officially the only player to win the Golden Ball twice at the World Cup (2014, 2022) since the award was officially introduced in 1982.

The Argentine is also the first player to score in the group stage, round of 16, quater-final, semi-final and final in a single edition of the World Cup.

This is in addition to becoming the all-time record holder for most games played at the World Cup (26).
