Super Eagles defender Kenneth Omeruo is excited to be back in training with his Turkish club, Kasimpasa, after an injury kept him sidelined for several months.
The determined defender has been out of action since last October, when he was forced off the field after 60 minutes during Kasimpasa’s thrilling 3-3 draw against Galatasaray due to injury.
Now that he has returned to full training with his teammates, the 31-year-old has expressed his eagerness to get back to playing at full capacity.
Omeruo shared his excitement on social media platform X (formerly Twitter), saying, “It’s been a difficult few months. Glad to be running again… can’t wait to start helping my team again… I have missed it.. #unclek #offthepitch.”
During his time out, Omeruo missed key matches for both his Turkish club and the Super Eagles, including the final rounds of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers in November.
His return to full fitness is a huge boost for both Kasimpasa, who are currently in 9th place in the Turkish Super Lig, and the Super Eagles, with the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers set to resume in March, featuring a double-header against Rwanda and Zimbabwe.
The Super Eagles are currently in fifth place in Group C, with three points from their opening matches. They will face top-of-the-table Rwanda away on March 17, followed by a home match against Zimbabwe on March 24.
