Flamingos begin  first phase of final campfor U17 World Cup

Head Coach Bankole Olowookere has called up 35 players to the Nigeria U17 girls’ camp as they begin their final preparations for the 8th FIFA U17 Women’s World Cup, scheduled to be held in the Dominican Republic later this year.

The Flamingos, who dazzled in the qualifiers with a total of 25 goals over six matches, defeated the Central African Republic 6-0 in each leg, overcame Burkina Faso 7-1 on aggregate in the third round, and bested Liberia 6-1 on aggregate in the final round.

Notable among the invitees is the prolific Harmony Chidi, who scored an impressive 13 goals during the qualifiers. She will be joined by strike partner Peace Effiong, team captain Taiwo Afolabi, goalkeeper Christiana Uzoma, and defender Prisca Nwachukwu.

The 8th  FIFA U17 Women’s World Cup finals will be staged in the cities of Santiago de los Caballeros and Santo Domingo in the Dominican Republic, 16th  October – 3rd  November.
