Flying Eagles, South Africa In Barren Draw

Nigeria’s Flying Eagles and South Africa on Tuesday evening, played out a goalless draw at the ongoing CAF U-20 Nations Cup in Niger Republic. It was the second match for both sides at the ongoing tourney.

Nigeria were hoping to pick a win which would ensured that they make it to the FIFA U-20 World Cup in Holland, but will now have to wait for the last group game to know their fate as the group have virtually been thrown open.

The Flying Eagles mus avoid defeat in their last Group A game against the host nation, Niger, if they must make It to the World Cup.

Eagles went into this match with high spirit and boosted morale after beating Burundi in their first game, but they met more a determined South African side who could have won the tie. South Africa got the first chance to score in the 11th minute when the due of Blom and Phewa combined well to set up Monyane, but he was unable to beat Nigerian goalie.
