Fofana’s medical lasted ten hours before Chelsea signing in New York

Date:

Wesley Fofana has revealed his Chelsea medical lasted TEN HOURS as he underwent his tests in New York.

The French defender joined Chelsea last week from Leicester City, but only after undergoing a medical in New York on Blues co-owner Todd Boehly’s insistence.

Fofana told L’Equipe: “He was the Lakers doctor who was supervising all the tests, he looked at everything. They examined my ankle, all peeled off, even parts of my body that I can’t talk about (he laughs), to see how I had come back from injury. It lasted more than ten hours!”

He also said: “For at least five weeks, I believe. There were moments of doubt.

“I asked myself a thousand questions, at the beginning: ‘Am I making the right choice?’, ‘Is it too early?’ But quite quickly, I told myself that I was going to realise one of my dreams: to play in one of the biggest clubs in the world.

“I had just broken my tibia, fibula, ankle (last summer), it was impossible! It was very hard mentally to accept this injury, to be away from the pitch for so long. When you come back from an injury like this and have the opportunity to sign for such a big club, it’s just incredible.”
