Former U-23 Player, Awakan Draws Interest From Iraqi Club

Date:

Former Nigerian youth international, Awakan Abdulafeez Olawale, has become the center of attention for Iraqi outfit Amal Sports Club as they aim to bolster their squad for promotion contention.

Olawale, 23, made headlines as a teenage sensation when he received an invitation to join the Nigerian U-23 squad in 2016. Now, the defensive midfielder has been making waves in the Bahraini Premier League with Al Hala SC, attracting interest from clubs across the Middle East and Asia.Having previously plied his trade with various clubs in the Nigerian league, including a stint with Akwa United, Olawale’s performances in Bahrain have not gone unnoticed.

With Amal Sports Club eyeing a place in the top-flight, they see Olawale as the missing piece to their promotion puzzle.Negotiations between Olawale and Amal Sports Club are said to be at an advanced stage, with both parties eager to finalise the deal in the coming days.

Olawale himself is keen on the move and while reacting to the news, he stated that the Iraqi club despite playing in a lower league have huge ambitions and he is more than happy to be a part of the project and help the club in securing promotion to the top flight.
