Free-scoring Oshoala Record Another Hattrick For Barcelona

Super Falcons striker Asisat Oshoala again scored a hattrick as Barcelona beat Betis 7-0 in a Primera División de la Liga de Fútbol Femenino fixture played on Sunday.

Despite Oshoala’s goalscoring heroics in the last three games, she was dropped to the bench by Barcelona head coach Jonatan Giráldez.

Brazilian Geyse opened the floodgates for Barcelona as early as the 14th minute. Keira Walsh added a second in the 38th minute as Barcelona went to the break with a two-goal lead.

Five of the seven goals for Barcelona came in the second half. It started in the 48th minute when Clàudia Pina converted a ball through to her by Fridolina Rolfö.

In the 59th minute, Barcelona boss Giraldez introduced Oshoala in place of Ana-Maria Crnogorčević and the Super Falcons star found the back of the net two minutes after her introduction for Barcelona’s fourth assisted by Rolfö.

Mariona Caldentey scored the fifth for Barcelona as Oshoala and Rolfo combined again for the sixth in the 77th minute. Late in additional time, Oshoala completed her hattrick assisted by Mapi Leon to wrap up the victory for Barcelona.

In her last four league games, Oshoala has now scored a hattrick against Betis, Las Planas, and Granadilla Tenerfire.

The Super Falcons star is the league joint- leading scorer with 17 goals in the league with Levante’s Redondo Ferrer.

Oshoala now returns to action with Barcelona when they take on Alaves in their next league fixture scheduled for Saturday, February 11, 2023.
