Nigerian forward Ademola Lookman has ended a memorable four-year spell at Atalanta, confirming his transfer to Spanish side Atletico Madrid.
In a heartfelt message to fans and teammates, Lookman expressed gratitude for the support he received since arriving in Bergamo, describing the Atalanta family as having welcomed him “like one of their own” and inspired him to reach his best.
Reflecting on his time with the Serie A club, the Nigerian international recalled a historic triumph in Europe, where he scored a hat-trick in the final to secure Atalanta’s first continental trophy in 61 years. He described the achievement as an unforgettable moment that will remain engraved in his memory.
Lookman also highlighted his 2024 African Player of the Year award, which he won while representing Atalanta, calling it one of the proudest milestones of his career.

He praised the fans for their unwavering support at home and on the road, noting that their cheers, banners, and away trips made Bergamo feel like home.
