FRSC arrests 823 drivers, impounds 189 vehicles, seizes 634 licences

The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has taken significant action in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) by arresting 823 drivers, issuing fines to 923 individuals, impounding 189 vehicles, and confiscating 634 licenses and vehicle documents.

These measures were part of the enforcement of ‘Operation Karara,’ which began on September 2.

FRSC spokesman, Corps Commander Olusegun Ogungbemide, revealed these details in a statement on Friday.

Ogungbemide said the operation which was to reduce road traffic light violations within the FCT was expected to realise the mandate through speedy arrest and prosecution of offenders.

He stated that the drivers were charged with various offenses, including traffic light violations, dangerous driving, road marking infringements, and reckless driving.

“In order to consolidate on the gains recorded in the cause of the patrol operations and further entrench sanity in the use of traffic lights in the FCT, the Corps Marshal appeals to motorists to cooperate with its personnel and obey all traffic rules and regulations,” he said.
