G12 Wins Abalti Barracks Pre-season Tournament

High- flying G12 FC have emerged winners of the maiden edition of Abalti Barracks Pre-season tournament which ended on Thursday.

GI2 defeated Glorious Day FA 2-1 in a pulsating final watched by an appreciable crowd.

Two well taken goals by

Kelvin Kiogbara who fired a volley shot from the edge of the opponent’s 18 yard box that hit the back of the net in the first half put G12 in front for the first goal.

Glorious Day however fought back in the second half to equalize through a headed goal from close range to draw level and bring scores to 1-1 before Prince Bawa expertly dispatched a curler of a free-kick with few minutes to the end of the encounter that dropped at the far right corner of Glorious Day goal, leaving their goalkeeper in wonderland for the decisive and winning second goal 2-1 it ended.

The coach Thomas Olufemi side were in excellent form through out the 8 -team pre-season tournament to prepare sides for the 2024 season.

Speaking after the encounter, match winner Prince Bala gave thanks to God for the win.

Coach Olufemi commended the resilience of his boys saying they played to instructions even though they lost concentration in the first twenty minutes of the second half that led to the equalizer, they had to dig deep to restore advantage and eventually won.

An excited G12 Chairman,  Hakeem Mustapha Olatunji aka Gatuso was full of praises for his team even though he agreed it was a tough game.

“It was a very tough match but I’m happy my boys won.

“This has set the tune for us in 2024 which we are very prepared to face”, he said

He also showered encomiums on the organizers of the tournament for a job well done.
