After the first six minutes early goal that seems demoralizing for the Obaseki girls, they came out fighting hard to get an equalizer, but all efforts were stopped and frustrated by the aggressive defenders of Nasarawa Amazons FC who were given specific order to police and checkmate our attackers particularly Samuel Yemisi, Suliat Abideen and Chioma Olise.
Edo Queens sleeky striker Yemisi Samuel was completely marked out of the game given her no room to operate. All efforts made by Edo Queens to get a goal was frustrated by the host team.
The 1st 45 minutes ended with the Lafia ladies smiling into the dressing room with one goal lead.
The second half resumed with so much hope for both teams. But at the dot of 50 minutes, Tamium Dooshima, of Amazons volleyed an intelligent and well crafted pass into Edo Queens 18 yards box which was almost going out for a goal kick but suddenly the ball rolled into the waiting right leg of Chimembere Opara, who without wasting time took a devastating shot that cruised into Edo Queens net increasing the tally to two goals for the host team.
Edo Queens fought very hard dominating and taking the battle to host trying to see if they can get a goal but the efforts made yielded no results. It was a disappointing day for the galant girls from Edo State.
Despite losing 0-2 to the home team, it was an interesting game as both teams exhibited a high level technical football artistry with respect for each other. In all of this, Nasarawa football fans could not hold their love and likeness for Edo Queens as they were full of praises for the Benin based girls particularly when Edo Queens players started throwing out their jerseys to the fans.
With this defeat, Edo Queens still top Group A, with 23 points while Nasarawa Amazons are second with 21 points.
