Genesis gets Nigeria’s third gold in wrestling

Gold medal in the wrestling event for Nigeria at the ongoing 2022 Commonwealth Games increased to three after Mercy Genesis beat Canada’s Madison Parks 3-1 through victory by fall to claim gold medal in the Women’s Freestyle 50 kg.

Odunayo Adekuoroye and Blessing Oborududu claimed the first two medals for Nigeria in wrestling on Friday and Genesis added the third with her flawless victory against the Canadian.

Also on Saturday, Faith Obazauye claimed the first medal in the para table tennis event for Nigeria after coming from behind to beat England’s Felicity Pickard 3-1 (6-11, 11-7, 11-6, 11-8) in the women’s classes 8-10.
