KAA Gent striker Ahmed Abdullahi has finally reported for international duty in Cairo ahead of the Flying Eagles’ opening match of the 2023 Africa U20 Cup of Nations against Senegal.
The team’s media officer, Sharif Abdallah made this known that Abdullahi joined the team’s camp in the Egyptian capital ahead of Sunday game against Senegal
Abdullahi who was part of the team WAFU B championship was a late arrival to camp due to commitments with KAA Gent, whom he joined last summer after attaining the age of majority.
He received his first call-up to the first team in their Pro League clash with KVC Westerlo on February 11 and the following day started for the reserve team against La Louvière in the third tier of Belgian football.
The 18-year-old is seemingly in good physical condition given that he is expected to train with the Flying Eagles tomorrow morning.
Nigeria U20s boss Ladan Bosso has scheduled two training sessions for Friday, with the first starting at 0730 hours and the second will begin at 1900 hours.
The Flying Eagles will take on the Young Lions of Teranga on Sunday, February 19, followed by a tricky game against hosts Egypt on February 22 and their final encounter in the group stage is against Mozambique on February 25.
