Hard fighting Black Stars of Ghana woke up a little too late in their match against Portugal on losing the tie 3-2. Cristiano Ronaldo had coverted a penalty in the 65th minute of the match to shoot his side into the lead.

But Andre Ayew equalised in the 73rd minute.João Félix shot portugal into the lead again in the 78th minute with Rafael Leão grabbing the third goal for Portugal. Ghana however got the second goal in the 89th minute of the match but it was too late to make a difference as Portugal ran away with three points in the kitty. Cameroon had earlier in the day lost by a lone goal to Switzerland. Senegal search for their first win on Friday against hosts Qatar.

Meanwhile, Ronaldo has become the first player in World Cup history to score at five different tournaments. The 37-year-old put Portugal ahead against Ghana on Thursday as he thundered home a penalty which he won himself, extending his lead as the top scorer in the history of men’s international football.

As if he needed another record, Ronaldo has now become the first player to score at five different World Cup tournaments. Ronaldo was part of a group of five players to have scored at four, alongside Pele, Uwe Seeler, Miroslav Klose and long-time professional rival Lionel Messi, who joined that group earlier this week as he scored for Argentina against Saudi Arabia.
