Godson Brume Named SEC Freshman Athlete Of The Week

Date:

2021 World U20 100m finalist Godson Oghenebrume has been awarded with the Southeastern Conference, SEC, weekly award for Freshman Athlete of the Week after his impressive performance at the Joe May Invitational last weekend on the track.

The 18 year old ran the first individual race of his Louisiana State University, LSU, outdoor career over the weekend in the 100m event, storming home in 10.22s to win his heat and finish fourth overall.

The time rates as the 21st fastest in the NCAA this season, and it is the fourth fastest by a freshman.

It is also the second fastest time by a Nigerian over the distance behind the 10.07s ran all All Fools Day (April 1, 2022) by reigning World U20 champion, Udodi Chudi Onwuzurike.

Ogehenebrume also anchored home LSU’s 4×100 meter relay in a season best time of 39.42s.
