Governor Abba Yusuf of Kano State has appointed Abdullahi Ganduje, the national chairman of the All Progressives Congress, APC, and Rabiu Kwankwaso, the 2023 presidential candidate of the New Nigeria Peoples Party, NNPP, to the Kano State Elders Forum.
Yusuf also appointed other former federal and state leaders in the state as members of the council.
The governor disclosed this while addressing a press conference at the Governor’s Lodge in Abuja.
He said: “I wish to announce the formation of the Kano Council, which will serve as an advisory body to the government of Kano State under my leadership.

“This Elders Council shall comprise of all former governors, former deputy governors, former Senate presidents (if any), former speakers of the House of Representatives, former deputy speakers (if any), former speakers of the State House of Assembly, former deputy speakers of the State House of Assembly, retired Supreme Court justices, retired Appeal Court justices, and former chief justices of the state.”
Other members of the councils include former secretaries to the state government; former heads of Kano State Civil Service who are indigenes of the state; leadership of the Ulama, business community and traditional institutions; former heads of security agencies from Kano State; and “such other elders to be identified and appointed by the government into the council.”
The announcement is coming on the heels of the Supreme Court judgement that affirmed him as the duly elected governor of Kano State.
