The renaissance of football in Lagos State, received a much- needed fillip Wednesday, as the state’s U15 female football team defeated Bayelsa State 2-0 in the final match of the football event of the ongoing National Youth Games, in Asaba, Delta State.
Reacting to the good news, Chairman of Lagos State Football Association, Hajji Gafar Olawale Liameed, congratulated the girls for the feat, which he noted is another testament to the ongoing rebirth of football in the state.
“We’re happy and proud of our girls for winning the gold medal in the football event of the ongoing National Youth Games.
“It is a culmination of the handwork of everybody concerned with youth development and empowerment in the various agencies in the state.
“Much more, we must praise and thank His Excellency, Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, providing an enabling environment for sports and youths to develop and thrive in the state, in line with his epochal T.H.E.M.E.S+ agenda,” Hajji Liameed remarked.
An obviously elated Hajji Liameed, promised that the ‘Golden Board’ of the Lagos FA, won’t relent in its efforts to ensure it engenders a rewarding, progressive and sustainable football ecosystem in the state.
