He was more skilful than Ronaldinho – Eguavoen hails ex-Super Eagles midfielder

Former Super Eagles coach, Augustine Eguavoen, has said Austin ‘Jay Jay’ Okocha is the most skilful player to ever play football.

Eguavoen stated this in reaction to FIFA’s question on Twitter about who the most skilful footballer ever is.

The former Nigeria international also claimed Okocha was ahead of Brazil football legend, Ronaldinho.

FIFA tweeted: “Who is the most skilful player to have ever played the beautiful game? Jay-Jay Okocha wasn’t bad.

“So good, they had to name him twice!”

Eguavoen replied: Definitely Jay-Jay. Closely followed by Ronaldinho”.

Ronaldinho and Okocha were teammates at Paris Saint-Germain and there have been many debates about how both players were rated in world football.

The Brazilian also played for Barcelona and other top European clubs before returning to his country where he ended his playing career.

Okocha also featured in three World Cups for Nigeria and mesmerised in all of them. He was also a delight to watch at the club level but didn’t do a lot in terms of club honours.

His club career has been a source of debate for many football fans but the extent of his skill set is unarguable to even the most uninterested football fan.
