Contrary to opinion held by many that owning a football academy is all about the Benjamin (money), Chika Akujobi, CEO Jobi Sports Academy, Amaimo, Owerri, Imo State, begs to differ, stating that helping the players live or fulfil their dream is his greatest joy.
The Netherlands based Club proprietor, during an exclusive interview with us, emphasized and reiterated that his passion for football is the reason he does what he is doing.
“My reason for being into football in the first place is that I love what I’m doing.
“It gives me great joy seeing these players kicking around, nurturing them, helping and guiding them to fulfil their dream.
“It’s definitely not because of the money, even though we will need money to run the club”, he said.
Akujobi, whose team Jobi Sports was part of the just concluded SPOCS Scouting Tournament at Ikenne, Remo, Ogun State, insisted that he couldn’t have done anything else other than football.
“Football is my life and it gives me great pleasure.
“Look at the top notch facilities we have here, referring to the Remo Stars stadium, training pitches and other world class facilities their.
“It’s not like Hon. Kunle Soname is going to recover all the money he spent here, but he’s just happy doing it.
“That’s exactly my case and I have no regrets whatsoever”, he concluded.
The amiable Akujobi, whose son, Hamdi Akujobi plays as a right wing back for Almere City in the Dutch Eredivisie, discovered and nurtured the likes of Kenneth Omeruo, Sunday Lawrence who plays in Portugal, Yaya Adamu, James Orosaye of Enyimba amongst others.
