“I Am Disappointed For Not Beating Nigeria In Abuja” – Guinea U23 Coach

Guinea U23 national team coach, Morlayie Cisse said he was disappointed with the 0-0 result his boys recorded against Nigeria on Wednesday.

Nigeria were held to a 0-0 draw in the first leg of the CAF U23 African Nations Cup qualifier played at the Moshood Abiola Stadium, Abuja where Guinea were the better side.

Cisse who spoke in French (but was translated into English) in an exclusive interview with BSN Sports after the match said that he would have got the job done if his boys had scored in the first leg.

“I told you yesterday (Tuesday) that we are in Nigeria for serious business and we showed that on the pitch today. We were the better side for most part of the game.”

“I am disappointed that we failed to finish the game from Nigeria. My players did well and my little problem is that we failed to score in today’s game.

He said playing on neutral ground makes the second leg a 50-50 affair between Nigeria and Guinea.

“It’s still a 50-50 chance for both of us in Morocco as we play on a neutral ground but for us to win, we need to improve on our weak areas on the field.”

Eventual winners between Nigeria and Guinea in the second leg will pick the ticket to play in the CAF U23 African Nations Cup finals where countries will qualify for the 2024 Olympic in France.
