‘I have African roots’ – Serie A defender, Dorgu speaks on playing for Nigeria, Denmark

Lecce left-back Patrick Dorgu has spoken about the possibility of representing his parents’ country, Nigeria, at senior level.

The highly rated left-back spoke about his international future ahead of the 2024 European Championship.

Dorgu stands the chance to represent his country of birth, Denmark, as well as Nigeria, where his parents originally hail from.

Dorgu is provisionally cap-tied to Denmark, having made a competitive debut for their youth team in a European U19 Championship qualifier against Georgia in September 2022.

He is dreaming of playing for Denmark in the European Championship in Germany.

“I haven’t thought about that. Everyone dreams of being able to represent their country,” Dorgu told Bold.

“I was born in Denmark and have African roots, and right now I haven’t thought about having to make a choice.
