Ighalo Gets Defiant Over Latest Injury Storm

Shanghai Shenhua of China striker, Odion Jude Ighalo has taken a defiant stand against the ongoing battle he is facing with injury, as he declared emphatically that he will quickly get over his latest fitness storm.

Ighalo opted to turn philosophical in his latest reaction to the blight that hit him in the very last match he played and scored for the Super Eagles, to emerge top scorer with five goals, at the recent Africa Cup of Nations in Egypt, as he stated that no storm will last forever.

The former Julius Berger FC of Lagos, Prime FC of Osogbo, L;yn Oslo of Norway, Udinese of Italy, Granada of Spain, Watford of England and Changchun Yatai of China star took to social media to reveal that he has stepped up his process of rehabilitation from a knee injury he sustained during the Eagles’ third-place 1-0 win over Tunisia last month.

The 30-year-old striker, who announced his national team retirement immediately after that game, quickly moved to Spain for the first lap of his recovery process and then returned to China last week to complete the fitness regime outlined for him by doctors who assessed the knee.

He has now commenced light training on the field, with some jogging and skipping techniques, as he hopes to return to top form in the Chinese Super League, where he has scored seven goals in nine matches.

Shenhua have struggled in Ighalo’s absence, as the Shanghai-based side are placed 12th with 23 points after 22 matches, but the soft-spoken star is optimistic that he will be able to fire on all cylinders when he returns to action before this month runs its full course.

Ighalo exuded such optimism in his short post on social media, with an attached video that showed him running and he stated: “No storm lasts forever. A smile is the prettiest thing you can wear.”
