Iheanacho Begins Pre-season With Leicerster City

Leicester City of England attacker, Kelechi Iheanacho has turned up for pre-season training with his English Premier League club, as he makes up for missing out on Nigeria’s squad to the Africa Cup of Nations in Egypt.

While the Super Eagles seek glory in The Land of The Pharaohs, with his Leicester mate, Wilfred Onyinyen Ndidi among the lads in green-and-white, Iheanacho resumed with The Foxes at the start of their training camp in Evian-les-Bains, France.

The UAE 2013 FIFA U-17 World Cup gold medalist and most valuable player will now seek better trappings at Kingpower Stadium, having gone through a mighty struggle all through last season.

The ex-Manchester City whiz-kid saw his fortunes dwindle for club and country, which means he will be determined this time out to truly fight back and to impress Leicester’s manager, Brendan Rodgers.

Iheanacho, who began drills with the team last Friday in the south-east of France, will have to redouble his efforts, especially with the arrival of Ayoze Perez from Newcastle United, which may see the Eagles’ outcast fall further behind in the pecking order of Leicester’s attackers.

He will equally have to inspire the Nigerian-born duo of left-back Calvin Ughelumba and striker Layton Ndukwu, who have joined The Foxes for the spell in France, to fill in for Ndidi and some of the other first team players who are still away on international duty with their countries.

Iheanacho, Ughelumba and Ndukwu will hope to make a huge impact in Leicester’s first pre-season game against Scunthorpe United on Tuesday, before facing English lower division sides, Cheltenham Town, Cambridge United, Rotherham United and Stoke City as well as Atalanta of Italy.
