Iheanacho, Ndidi set for Premier League return

Date:

Leicester City reignited their automatic promotion push to the Premier League with a thrilling 3-1 comeback win over Norwich City at the King Power Stadium on Monday.

This result temporarily places them at the top of the Championship table, although rivals Ipswich and Leeds United have yet to play their matches.

The Foxes clawed their way back from an early deficit after Gabriel Sara put Norwich ahead with a corner in the 20th minute. Leicester’s response was swift, with Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall equalizing just 13 minutes later.

Stephy Mavididi put Leicester in the lead just past the hour mark with a fantastic curling shot into the top corner.

The win was secured in stoppage time by the legendary Jamie Vardy. The former England striker capitalized on a blocked Harry Winks effort to power the ball home, sealing all three points for Leicester.

Leicester’s victory puts them back on top of the Championship table, albeit temporarily. They are currently one point ahead of second-placed Ipswich and two points ahead of Leeds United in third.

The race for automatic promotion promises to be exciting, with all three teams vying for a coveted top-two spot that guarantees a return to the Premier League.

Despite the loss, Norwich City remains in the playoff hunt, currently sitting in sixth position.

The Championship playoffs determine which team earns the third and final promotion spot to the Premier League. While their automatic promotion hopes took a hit, Norwich can still secure a shot at the top tier through the playoffs.
