Injury update: Successful surgery for Umar Sadiq

Date:

Injured Super Eagles forward, Umar Sadiq, has undergone a successful surgery for his ruptured anterior cruciate ligament.

Real Sociedad revealed the news on their verified Twitter handle on Thursday.

“Sadiq underwent surgery this morning. The operation was successfully carried out with no issues. He will remain in the hospital until Friday or Saturday, depending on his evolution,” the White and Blue tweeted.

Sadiq copped the injury in Real Sociedad’s 2-1 LaLiga defeat to Getafe last weekend.

The 25-year-old is expected to miss the remainder of the 2022/23 season as a result of the setback.

The striker only linked up with Real Sociedad on transfer deadline day from another Spanish club, Almeria.

The Nigerian scored on his debut for the club netting the equaliser in the 1-1 home draw against Atletico Madrid.

He has already scored two goals for Almeria this season before making the switch.
