Top Squash players from Nigeria and different parts of the world will light up Lagos in the International Squash Classics holding this week at the Molade-Okoya Thomas Indoor Hall of Teslim Balogun Stadium, Surulere, Lagos.
The top squash classics is an event organised to expose our players to top competition and help them showcase their God given talents at a top level.
Ever hard working Chairman, Lagos State Squash Association (LSSA), Tomi Falase, revealed, it’s going to be a weeklong event, which will benefit the country’s game in many aspects.
“We’re very elated that our players have the chance and opportunity to be part of this highly competitive international squash event, because this, will heavily exposure our players to international stanard.
“As a player, when you train, there’s need to assess yourself and the only way that can be done is by participating in tournaments like this.
“I believe that our players will compete well. I am hoping to see many upsets hopefully, and I am looking forward to the discovery of potential world class players,” he said.
Falase explained that Covid and the 2023 general elections kept many Nigerian players out of competition, adding, however, that the second quarter will be alot better.
“A lot of underground work went on in the first quarter, many things were kept on hold, but I know with the conclusion of the 2023 elections, we should see more programmes.”
He added: “We appreciate our sponsors for believing in the development of squash and we hope that we’d get more interested sponsors, both individuals and corporate bodies too.” he concluded.
