Super Falcons Head coach, Justine Madugu has described their tension – soaked semi final match against the Bayana Bayana of South Africa at the ongoing Women Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) tournament in Morocco as a very nervy game.
Nigeria defeated South Africa 2-1 through a dire minute long range strike by Michelle Alozie to send the defending champions packing to progress to the final where they will now meet the hosts Morocco.
Speaking during the post match conference, Madugu said his side created and wasted many chances which he feared at some point that it may have a toll on the team’s confidence but he was glad that they kept going and eventually got the winner.

“When your team is creating and wasting so many begging chances it worries you as a coach because if your opponents take theirs and wins the game, no one will remember the many chances you created and wasted because only the ones that hits the back of the net counts.
“It was a very nervy game which at some point I feared that my team was going to crack due to the many lost opportunities, but I was glad they kept going and eventually got the winning goal”, he said.
Morocco beat Nigeria’s neighbours Ghana via penalties to qualify for the final.
A win for the Super Falcons in the final will be ten titles for the Nigerian side in WAFCON.
