Former Manchester United defender Rio Ferdinand believes Everton’s Manager Frank Lampard could be next in-line for the sack after Southampton got rid of Ralph Hasenhüttl.

The Austrian was shown the exit after a string of poor results, the latest being the 4-1 defeat at home against Newcastle, Everton themselves have not been very convincing under Frank Lampard either.

Everton have been largely in inconsistent this season and have just a win and draw win their last six outings.

Ferdinand believes that lack of creativity is hampering Frank Lampard’s side from pulling strings of wins together.

On his podcast the former CB singled out the unimpressive trio of Maupay, McNeil and Gordon claiming that they have not been up to standard compared to Alex Iwobi – the most creative player in the Everton team.

“I think Frank’s biggest hindrance that he’s got at the moment is a lack of creativity and goals,” Ferdinand said.

“McNeil’s not scoring, Gordon’s gone off the boil a bit, Iwobi’s their most creative player and he’s playing in midfield, Dominic Calvert-Lewin is carrying too many injuries.

“They got Maupay who never really scored goals for Brighton in a team that created a lot of chances; he’s now gone to a team that doesn’t create a lot of chances.

“So it’s difficult; time will tell with Frank, I hope he doesn’t get sacked.”

Frank Lampard will hope to start a quick resurrection as Everton are currently 16th on the Log, just two points above the relegation zone currently occupied by Southampton, Wolves and Nottingham Forest.
