Iwobi Charges Arsenal To Win 2019 Europa League

Arsenal of England attacker, Alex Iwobi has charged his side to go all out for victory in the UEFA Europa League, when they face London rivals, Chelsea at Baku Olympic Stadium in Azerbaijan on May 29.

Although he stayed on The Gunners’ bench for all 90 minutes in his second straight match of the second-tier European clubs’ competition, Iwobi said he was delighted to see his colleagues cruise into the final at the expense of Valencia of Spain.

A 4-2 away win for Arsenal added to their 3-1 victory from the first leg, taking the Emirates side to their first European final since they were beaten by Barcelona in the UEFA Champions League’s last tie in 2006.

While Iwobi watched on from The Gunners’ bench, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang hit a hat-trick in Mestalla Stadium, as Arsenal eased past Valencia to secure their place in the Europa League final.

Despite falling behind to Kevin Gameiro’s 11th-minute effort, the Gunners rallied as Aubameyang equalised and Alexandre Lacazette struck to put them ahead on the night and in control of the tie.

Gameiro, who was part of Arsenal boss, Unai Emery’s Sevilla side that won three successive Europa League titles, continued his fine scoring run in the competition with another – only for Aubameyang to add the gloss with two more efforts.

There was a skirmish at full-time, with Maitland-Niles booked for his involvement, but it took little shine off a fine evening for Arsenal, who comfortably advance to the final with Emery again proving he is the go-to man in the Europa League.

Emery, who has not lost a knockout tie in this competition since he was in charge of Valencia in 2012, knows he needs to win the same title in Baku on May 29 to seal a UEFA Champions League return for Arsenal in his first season at the helm.

In a week of English comebacks in the Champions League, Aubameyang’s goals made sure Arsenal were not victims of one in Spain, and Iwobi is now looking ahead to the final, with a view that his side will push for it.

Iwobi took to social media to reveal his thoughts, and the Super Eagles’ star stated: “Top Performance From The Boys. Final Push #LetsGo #UEL.”
