Iwobi: I’m Already Enjoying My Time With Everton

Everton of England midfiedler, Alex Iwobi has stated delight with his first goal for The Toffees, and declared that he is already feeling exicted and enjoying his time at Goodison Park.

Coming so soon after his transfer deadline day arrival from Arsenal in the summer window, Iwobi made the beest of his second game for The Toffees, but his first start, as they Iwobi ran out 4-2 winners against Lincoln City in the Carabao Cup on Wednesday night.

The Premier League side went 3-2 up courtesy of Iwobi’s headed goal in the 81st minute of the encounter, as he struck his first ever goal not only for Everton but also in the Carabao Cup, following 12 appearances in the competition, dating back to his days with Arsenal.

A minute after Iwobi opened his goals for Everton, the Super Eagles’ star made way for former Arsenal teammate, Theo Walcott, but he had already contributed his own quota in taking The Toffees into  advance to the third round of the League Cup competition.

The dazzling star, who became the most expensive Nigerian transfer in history, following his deadline move to Everton for a fee in the region of £35m, admitted that Lincoln were tough on the night, but added that he was happy to see Everton’s fighting sapiirt make a world of difference.

Iwobi said: ”I am enjoying my time here, it is a new chapter in my life. I am so happy and there are more memories to come.

“It was a difficult game and we have to give credit to Lincoln. But the most important thing is we are through to the next round. We showed we have that fighting spirit, and that’s good to see.”

Iwobi also received plaudits from The Toffees’ coach, Marco Silva, after the star got off the mark in his first start for The Toffees, as he struck in their 4-2 win away to Lincoln City in the Carabao Cup, and Silva was left reeling lyrical about the summer signing, whose quality the gaffer says will continue getting better with each passing match.

The Portuguese gaffer praised Iwobi for his display against Lincoln, but also recalled that the lad had earlier down well also on his debut versus Aston Villa last Friday in the English Premier League, which makes him certain the new arrival will bring more quality to The Toffees.

Silva told Liverpool Echo: “Alex gave us very good things during that moment. I’m 100% sure with more minutes in his legs, having more training sessions, getting to know his teammates better and creating normal connections we will see his quality.”
