Iwobi passes late fitness test, starts for the 19th straight Premier League game of season

Date:

Alex Iwobi has passed a late fitness test and has been named in the starting line up by Everton manager, Frank Lampard for the 19th straight Premier League game this season.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin also returns to the XI for Everton’s Premier League clash against Southampton at Goodison Park Saturday afternoon.

Iwobi was taken off on a stretcher early into the second half at Manchester United last Friday with an ankle ligament injury but has recovered in time to take his place in midfield with Amadou Onana and Idrisss Gana Gueye.

This will be Iwobi 202nd Premier League game since he made his debut in the competition for Arsenal in October 2015.

He has scored 16 times, bagged 25 assists and won 85 times prior to Saturday’s game.

This season he has scored just once, bagged five assists and won only three times.

Joe Aribo is starting from the bench for the second straight Premier League game.

Elsewhere, Kelechi Iheanacho is still looking for his first Premier League start since September after he was named on the bench again in Leicester City’s away trip to Nothingham Forest.

The 26 old last started a Premier League game last September in the Foxes 5-2 defeat at the Amex against homers, Brighton.

Wilfred Ndidi is in the starting X1 as Leicester looks to bounce back from three Premier League defeats in a row.
