High – flying 36 Lion FC booked their place in the 2025 Jagaban cup final where they would come up against SGFC Athletics in the match billed for Thursday at the Legacy Pitch, Surulere, Lagos.

Both teams made their intentions known early on in the tournament when they took commanding lead in their respective groups after just two matches with both securing maximum 6 points. As a result, a point were what was just needed by both sides to qualify for the final.

However, SGFC Athletics didn’t just play for a point but went for an outright win against Imperial FC in their last game which they won 1-0 to ensure they finished with a 100% record with three wins in three matches in their group.

It was however not that smooth or rosy for 36 Lion as they had to labour from a goal down to draw 1-1 with FC Bethel Sporting in their last match to finish with 7 points.

The final promises great spectacle from two sides that showed great grit, character and hunger right from the start of the tournament

The Jagaban cup has continued to produce top talents for major leagues across Europe which this year’s edition wouldn’t be an exception in the words of Hajj Gafar, the organizer of the impressive competition that has kept European top club directors bewildered over the abundant talents in Nigeria.

In the other matches played Wednesday, Ijebu United defeated Dino Sports Club 3 -2 while Ikorodu City beat Broadcity 3-1. Ijebu United would battle Ikorodu City in the losers final.
