John Obuh, Dismisses Rumors of Player Unrest Over FA Cup Bonuses

Date:

Expresses Confidence On Imama Amapakabo Technical Crew

Abia Warriors FC Chairman, Coach John Obuh, has denied reports circulating on social media that the team’s players are unhappy with the N52 million largesse received from the state government and other indigenes after their Federation Cup final appearance. The rumors suggested that the players felt shortchanged by the club’s management.

Speaking after his team’s 2-0 loss to Remo Stars in their NPFL opener, Obuh waved aside the allegations, stating that the issue has no bearing on the team’s performance. He expressed confidence in the technical crew led by Imama Amakapabo, saying, “I have absolute confidence in Imama and his crew. They have prepared adequately, and I am convinced that they have learned from their mistakes against Remo Stars and will correct them before the next match.”

Obuh attributed the team’s slow start to the uniqueness of the league, where some teams begin poorly but finish strongly, while others start well but struggle towards the end of the season. He remains optimistic that the team can recover lost points as the league progresses.

Regarding the alleged dispute over the Federation Cup bonuses, Obuh clarified that each player received their due share, and there is no quarrel or unrest within the team. He urged journalists to understand the inner workings of clubs before publishing reports.

Abia Warriors will face Akwa United in their Matchday 2 encounter in Uyo, and Obuh is confident that the team will bounce back from their opening-day loss.
