JUST IN: INEC summons Turaki, Wike factions to resolve PDP leadership crisis

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on Thursday convened a troubleshooting meeting with the two rival factions of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) at its Abuja headquarters.

The session brings together the Tanimu Turaki-led faction and the Nyesom Wike-backed Abdulrahman Mohammed faction, amid lingering disputes over party leadership and internal arrangements.

Turaki arrived with key members of his National Working Committee, secretariat staff, and former Niger State Governor Babangida Aliyu, signalling the seriousness of his representation.

On the other side, Mohammed was accompanied by members of his national caretaker committee, including the Secretary, Senator Sam Anyanwu, underscoring his faction’s determination to assert its position.

The outcome of the meeting is expected to shape the resolution of ongoing tensions within the PDP ahead of upcoming political activities and party congresses.
