JUST IN: Tinubu receives AFRICOM Commander, U.S envoy at State House

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Sunday received a high-level delegation from the United States Africa Command (AFRICOM), led by its Commander, General Dagvin Anderson, at the State House, Abuja.

The meeting, attended by Nigeria’s top security officials, was confirmed in a post on X by the Special Assistant to the President on Social Media, Dada Olusegun.

Olusegun noted that President Tinubu, alongside the National Security Adviser (NSA), Mallam Nuhu Ribadu, and the service chiefs, welcomed General Anderson, members of his team, and the U.S. Embassy’s Charge d’Affaires in Nigeria, Mr. Keith Heffern.

The U.S. delegation included General Anderson; Command Sergeant Major Garric M. Banfield, AFRICOM’s Senior Enlisted Leader; and AFRICOM’s Senior Foreign Policy Adviser, Ambassador Peter Vrooman, alongside Mr. Heffern.

On the Nigerian side, top officials present were NSA Ribadu; Minister of Defence General Christopher Musa (rtd); Chief of Defence Staff, General Olufemi Oluyede; Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant-General Waidi Shaibu; Chief of Defence Intelligence, Lieutenant-General Emmanuel Uandiandeye; and the Directors-General of the National Intelligence Agency (NIA), Mohammed Mohammed, and Department of State Services (DSS), Tosin Ajayi.
